Over the past decade events concerning contemporary art have multiplied impressively.

Public and private organisations are active in large cities and in the provinces, and the number of theorists and curators has risen accordingly.

The Contemporary Greek Art Institute iset seeks to add to the general picture of historical events in the field of visual arts. Its principal aim is to gather, document and digitize archival material from 1945 to the present day.

The topic of this day conference focuses on the significance of archives and their role in developing theoretical discourse. The day conference will hear the views of theoretical scientists and artists, who, with their presence, will contribute to a better understanding and enrichment of the issue.

The speakers are called upon to present either purely theoretical approaches or specific practices, research and instances of studies.

Art theorist Elpida Karamba undertakes the coordination of the event.
